The Simplicity of Jesus

So I tried it.

I pretended I was a child this morning when I woke up,

due to all I learned from my grand~daughter this weekend.

Actually I was more like a teen because I slept in.

Anyway, I walked down the stairs into a freezing room,

reminding me that we turned off the heater last night

because it was making some crunching noises.

I disregarded the cold and went right to the espresso machine.

And before I knew it

I was in the basement

on the ground

looking inside the heater,

as I remembered that

the last time we changed the filter

it was all eaten up and hard to get out.

Now I know you are thinking that I am a brilliant detective,

but actually I felt like one in the moment.

And lo and behold the crunchy noise was coming from the new filter

all wadded up stuck in the fan.

Oh the excitement and joy I felt as I figured it out,

and now I was going to surprise my husband and fix it.

Knowing the first golden rule,

I turned off the heater

and then dropped the metal rod I was going to use,

exchanging it for a piece of wood.

Oh I love a challenge.

And with my cell phone flashlight and blurry eyes

I prodded with the stick and squeezed my hand in the small slot

and starting pulling and pulling.

And oh the joy of a the completed task

as I held the wadded up filter in my hand.

Something so simple yet oh how fulfilling.

I ran as quiet as I could be (hmm) to the bedroom

so excited to tell my husband.

After I startled him with a big smile on my face

I told him my news.

He chuckled, and probably not as excited as I,

but I now walked down the stairs

feeling such joy over something so simple.

I am a child.

It doesn't take much.

It does take much when I don't complicate things.

This is crazy,

but as I am writing this

I have a big smile on my face.

GOD used something so little

to remind me of the

SIMPLICITY OF JESUS.

JESUS is so easy.

JESUS doesn't demand from us.

JESUS is gentle.

So today I will continue to be a child

and go back to the

SIMPLICITY OF JESUS.

Will you?
