Day 8: Not Guilty

You SEE the DOOR.
And there is no way that you could fit,
as it is NARROW.
But then you read the sign.
COME.
Oh you want to COME.
But your hands
are
full of your
STUFF.
Your anxiety.
Your fear.
Your bitterness.
Your confusion.
Your doubt.
Your worry.
Your shame.
Your guilt.
The lies
you have believed
about yourself.
You have stood before this
DOOR,
before.
But THIS MOMENT is different,
because you are having
one of those
MOMENTS
Then you hear HIS INVITATION
"COME TO ME".
Oh how do you COME
when your hands are already full?
But then, before you even take a step,
IT HAPPENS.
PEACE fills your whole being.
A PEACE that transcends all understanding.
Tears fill your eyes.
And a JOY that is indescribable overwhelms your soul.
You are having a MOMENT.
A GLORIOUS MOMENT.
A CHRISTMAS OF THE HEART MOMENT.
Why ?
Because on the other side of
THE DOOR
you see
three beautiful gifts~
GRACE,
MERCY,
and
TRUTH.
Each one
is wrapped
with your name
Oh you long for GRACE,
but SHAME has dressed you
far too long.
Oh you long for MERCY,
but GUILT keeps whispering that you don't
deserve it.
Oh you long for TRUTH,
but lies
keep telling you
that you are
UNWORTHY.
And there HE IS.
JESUS, with HIS hands stretched toward you.
Not to condemn you,
but to receive everything you've been carrying.
Your SHAME.
Your GUILT.
Your FEAR.
Your LIES.
And then HE gently speaks to you,
“I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE.
No one comes to the FATHER except through ME"
(John 14:6).
IMMEDIATELY you understand that
THE DOOR isn't merely a place.
THE DOOR
is
JESUS.
HE is THE WAY
that leads you home.
THE TRUTH that sets you FREE.
THE LIFE
that fills every empty place in your heart.
And beyond THE DOOR,
you discover that
GRACE,
MERCY,
and
TRUTH
were never merely gifts.
They were always
JESUS.
For HE is everything that you ever WANTED,
because HE is all that you will ever NEED.
"For out of HIS fullness [the superabundance of HIS GRACE and TRUTH we have all received GRACE upon GRACE [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, FAVOR upon FAVOR, and gift heaped upon gift]" (John 1:16 .
And HIS GIFTS aren't a one and done.
For HIS GRACE never runs out.
For HIS MERCY never runs dry.
For HIS TRUTH never changes.
Now
the NARROW DOOR
doesn't seem too small.
Because
you've discovered
the secret.
You don't
have to carry
your
STUFF
through it.
You simply
leave it
at the feet
of
JESUS.
And you have a
CHRISTMAS IN JULY,
because CHRISTMAS was never simply the birth of a Baby.
It was the opening of THE DOOR.
And it is at THE DOOR where you
have GIFTED all your STUFF to the ONE who INVITES you to COME.
Do you carry SHAME?
Lay it down.
Do you carry GUILT?
Lay it down.
Because
THE DOOR
is still open.
And HIS NAME
is
JESUS,
and
"HE IS THE WAY"
