GOOD MOURNING!
Yup!
There is such a thing for
MOURNING
to BE GOOD,
when you have a
BE~ATITUDE.
For JESUS did say,
“BLESSED,
forgiven, refreshed by GOD'S grace
are those who MOURN...".*
There it is.
The word
MOURN.
To MOURN
is associated with death,
that ugly word,
but that which is part of life,
that causes
MOURNING.
To MOURN~
To GRIEVE.
To have SORROW.
To say GOOD~BYE.
To BE or NOT TO BE
a GOOD MOURNING?
This is one of the BEATITUDES
that I have BELIEVED wrong.
Of course I immediately thought about
MOURNING over a loss,
and actually I was right BELIEVING,
for JESUS is talking about MOURNING over a loss,
and a LOSS is part of yourself.
The part of yourself that HE is asking you for you give up.
“Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by GOD'S grace]
are those who MOURN [over their sins and repent],
for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted]".*
DEATH to the Adam and Eve part of us.
The apple part.
The bite of the forbidden fruit that birthed sin
into our DNA,
into every little bitty baby that is born.
A DNA that needs to be changed.
A RELEASE of your self.
REPENTANCE
is a
GOOD MOURNING.
A WHITE FLAG moment.
A
I NEED Jesus moment
that is
LIFE CHANGING,
because a
GOOD MOURNING
is a change of HEART
that changes you.
A BROKEN HEART
that needs
a HEART SURGEON.
A BROKEN HEART
over what BREAKS GOD'S HEART.
What BREAKS GOD'S HEART?
A HEART that is devoid of GOD.
A HEART that is not SURRENDERED
to JESUS.
JESUS,
who was born to die to rise
to GIFT everyone the opportunity
to SURRENDER,
to MOURN
over their own depravity.
To MOURN
is
to LET GO
so that
JESUS can do what only HE can do in your HEART.
"... for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted]"*.
GOOD MOURNING brings COMFORT,
not only in the here and now,
but in ETERNITY
when the word MOURNING will not be a word anymore~
"And HE will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the
former order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4).
Oh to MOURN is real,
especially when a loved one has passed,
for there is a real BROKENNESS
that causes great grief and sorrow.
But there is
the GOOD MOURNING of REPENTANCE
that also causes a BROKENNESS in your SPIRIT.
For when you are at the end of your rope
because you are doing life your own way,
you do have a CHOICE~
TO BE or NOT TO BE BROKEN
doing LIFE your way,
or to do
LIFE
GOD'S WAY.
Oh LETTING GO is hard to do,
especially when LETTING GO
of your self,
but BLESSED are you when you
LET GO~
“You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you.
Only then can you be embraced by the ONE most dear to you"*.
I still remember that moment when
GOD became so close to me,
that it was if I could hear HIS whisper,
asking me TO LET GO to HIM.
A scary moment,
for the uncertainty of "who would I be" without my being in control of doing life my way,
revealed my not wanting to LET GO.
And then I heard HIS words,
"You will be mine. I will take care of you".
Oh LETTING GO IS SWEET SURRENDER.
For didn't GOD let go of JESUS
to become more than a little BABY
born into this world?
Oh CHRISTMAS IN JULY!
What if the first cry of the
BABY
in Bethlehem made possible your first cry
of REPENTANCE?
What if the reason
JESUS
was born was so that you could experience
a GOOD MOURNING?
For the BABY
wrapped in swaddling clothes would one day be wrapped
in burial cloths.
The cradle would lead to THE CROSS.
THE CROSS would lead to the EMPTY TOMB.
And THE EMPTY TOMB would make possible
a
NEW HEART.
A HEART that lets go of self,
so it can hold onto
JESUS.
That is the beauty of
GOOD MOURNING.
We MOURN
so that we may receive
HIS GRACE.
We surrender our lives,
so that we may receive
HIS MERCY.
We let go of ourselves,
so that we may live
in HIS TRUTH.
That is why we celebrate
CHRISTMAS IN JULY.
Because CHRISTMAS
was never just the birth of an ordinary
Baby.
It was the beginning
of GOD'S rescue plan.
The arrival of GRACE.
The promise of MERCY.
The revelation of TRUTH.
The invitation to REPENT.
The gift of NEW LIFE.
To BE or NOT TO BE
MOURNING?
Hmm.
You decide.
“Blessed,
forgiven, and refreshed by GOD'S grace
are you, ____________________,
who MOURN
over your sins and repent,
for you, _______________,
they will be comforted
when the burden of sin is lifted"*
*(Matthew 5:4, amp and msg versions).
Oh CHRISTMAS IN JULY!
All because of
"THE POWER OF THE CROSS"
(listen to the song below)
