Day 5: Fear Of Missing Out

I think our world has
FOMO.
The
FEAR OF MISSING OUT.
We FEAR missing
the opportunity.
The promotion.
The relationship.
The vacation.
The experience.
Someone else's life.
But what if our greatest FEAR isn't missing something temporary?
What if
the greatest thing we could ever miss is
JESUS?
The Bible tells us:
"The LORD is not slow in keeping HIS promise, as some understand slowness. Instead HE is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish,
but everyone to come to repentance"( 2 Peter 3:9).
What a beautiful picture of the HEART of GOD.
Not a GOD who is afraid,
but may have
FOMO,
the FEAR of our MISSING OUT,
of the the greatest
GIFT ever given.
JESUS.
To PERISH.
What a sobering word.
To be separated from
GOD.
To lose what only
JESUS
can give.
Yet GOD'S desire has never been condemnation.
It has always been
LOVE.
"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear..."(1 John 4:18).
And that
perfect LOVE was revealed~
"For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS one and only SON,
that whoever believes in HIM shall not perish but have eternal life"
(John 3:16).
Maybe this is where
IT'S NOT ABOUT ME meets FOMO.
Whenever we choose to compare our life to someone else's,
our eyes slowly drift away from
JESUS.
We begin to focus on what we don't have,
what we wish were different,
what someone else seems to have...
and suddenly,
life becomes about ourselves.
Our wants.
our disappointments.
Our expectations.
Our comparisons.
So let me ask you,
is there someone who you are comparing yourself to today?
And what is that comparison stealing from you?
Could it be your JOY?
Your PEACE?
Your CONTENTMENT?
Because comparison has a way of convincing us
that we are MISSING something,
when all along we already have the greatest GIFT
we could ever receive~
JESUS.
When your eyes are fixed on everyone else,
it's easy to make life about
"ME".
But when your eyes are fixed on
JESUS,
everything changes.
You stop FEARING what you're MISSING
because you remember
WHO you already have.
Paul reminds us:
"This is good, and pleases GOD our SAVIOR, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
For there is one GOD and one mediator between
GOD and mankind, the man CHRIST JESUS,
who gave HIMSELF as a ransom for all people"
(1 Timothy 2:3–6).
JESUS made it all about us.
HE left heaven.
HE came to earth.
HE went to the Cross.
HE gave HIMSELF so that we would never have to PERISH.
Now,
our response is to make it all about
HIM.
So today,
don't allow the FEAR missing out on what the world has to offer.
Fear missing the opportunity to know
JESUS more deeply.
Because I know that every time life becomes about
ME,
I miss a little more of HIM.
But every time I make life about
JESUS,
I discover that I already have everything
I truly need.
Because,
IT'S NOT ABOUT ME.
It's not about what I'm missing.
It's about WHO I have.
"ONLY JESUS"
