You FIX YOUR EYES
on the sun like it is for the very first time.
The cameras click
taking the same picture over and over again
because its beauty is overwhelming.
It happens every night
as it sets
and
sheds colors that illuminate the horizon.
The water glistens as it catches the rays.
You FIX YOUR EYES
and are so still that nothing else matters.
You don't want it to end
and it does
until the morning when it will do the opposite
as it rises
and many will FIX THEIR EYES
on the same sun
that rises and sets
every day
and never stops.
Can it be that easy?
Can we FIX OUR EYES
on the STILLNESS OF PEACE
that takes us beyond
our own senses
so that we are brought into a different world
that we become so rebellious against
FEAR
DOUBT
ANXIETY
WORRY
DESPAIR
because we have turned away
like
a PRODIGAL~
but from the joy stealers of life
of every disruptive distraction
as we do the one simple thing
and
FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS~
the ONE who is walking on water
and calls us to do the same
even though it appears to be impossible.
But then it happens
as JOY paves our path
so that we just can't
so that we just won't
take our eyes off the
SON who never sets
because HE always RISES
in spaces and places of our heart
that we never thought would ever be
resurrected again.
So LIVING as a PRODIGAL~
"Joyously Unrestrained and Enthusiastic"
"Exuberant"
"Extreme or Excessive" (Webster)
is not just a possibility but a certainty
and it starts with one simple
rebellious step~
"[looking away from all that will distract us and]
focusing our eyes on JESUS, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith.." (Hebrews 12:2 AMP)
so that JESUS leads us
HOMEWARD BOUND
in the here and now
into
HIS PERFECT PEACE.
Oh there's no place like HOME
