I wonder what JESUS was thinking
a week before HE was about to have a
"GOOD" FRIDAY
right after
HIS LAST SUPPER.
But was it HIS LAST SUPPER
or was it the disciples' LAST SUPPER?
I wonder what the disciples were thinking
when they were gathered around the table
when JESUS began HIS LAST SUPPER
with the words~
“Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me" (Matthew 26:21)
Yikes!
Can you imagine if you were sitting at the table
and you hear the word
BETRAY.
BETRAY~
To BREAK Faith
To BREAK Trust
So here you have JESUS
who has invited HIS followers
to BREAK bread with HIM
when there was one who was getting ready to
BREAK from JESUS.
Would you have looked around the table
at each guest convicting each one?
Or would you put your head down thinking
that it could be you, yet you don't want it to be you?
Or would you know that it was you,
and that you were prepared to do it anyway?
Oh JESUS knew
the time & the place
& who would be at HIS LAST SUPPER,
and the who would BETRAY HIM.
But because
JESUS is JESUS
HE still LOVED in the midst of what HE knew what was going to happen
after that LAST SUPPER
on HIS GOOD FRIDAY,
because it was all part of
HIS FATHER'S PLAN
that HE followed to the very end
with a
LOVE that is steadfast
that does not waiver
even when HIS followers' faith waivered
because
"All that JESUS did and said flowed out of HIS relationship with HIS FATHER.
HIS sense of identity, who HE was, was not based on
HIS ministry, what HE did,
but just the reverse:
HE did what HE did because HE knew who HE was" (Intervarsity).
Maybe that is why JESUS told HIS disciples
“I am the vine, you are the branches. HE who abides in ME and I in him, bears much fruit;
for without ME you can do nothing" (John 15:5).
To ABIDE~
To Not BREAK FAITH.
To Not BREAK TRUST.
To Not BREAK.
Oh I see myself sitting with JESUS
at HIS LAST SUPPER,
getting ready to BREAK bread,
and I wonder if I would be thinking about the times that
I did
BREAK FAITH
&
did
BREAK TRUST.
Hmm.
Oh I have
because
I was BROKEN
and because
I was not ABIDING in the ONE who never turns HIS back from me
even when I ABIDE in my own BROKENNESS.
It is impossible to LIVE the ABUNDANT LIFE without ABIDING.
Never take a BREAK from JESUS.
“As the FATHER loved ME, I also have loved you; abide in ME love.
If you keep MY commandments, you will abide in MY love, just as I have kept MY FATHER'S commandments and abide in HIS love" (John 15:4).
Will you join me today
and
FAST from
BREAKING FAITH
&
BREAKING TRUST
by
ABIDING IN JESUS
every time you start to
waiver in FAITH
or waiver in TRUST
because of what may be wavering in your life.
"YOU will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on YOU,
Because he trusts inYOU" (Isaiah 26:3).
And that my friend
is because of HIS
