Day 31: New Year's Revelation

How are your New Year Resolutions going?

Not to be a debbie downer, but it always seems

that when the clock strikes 12

and the NEW YEAR becomes a reality

we so believe that everything WILL CHANGE because of .

the promises we make.

I will lose those pounds.

I will exercise every day.

I will declutter my house.

I will be nice to everyone.

I will not procrastinate.

I will _________.

Fill in the blank.

Oh our WILL is so strong because

we really want to do and be the best we can be,

yet it is so hard.

It is like swimming upstream,

while you are chanting~

I think I CAN. I think I CAN. I think I CAN.

The same words that

"The Little Engine That Could"

puffed to get the whole train to the top.

But when I use those words, they give me an excuse to fail,

because if I only "think" I CAN

I am not truly BELIEVING that

I WILL.

And also, when I depend on myself

I may strive & strive to do the impossible,

yet I end up with no steam left.

What if we learned another lesson from "The Little Engine That Could".

I am glad it made it to the top through perseverance,

but I wonder what if it said instead

I know HE CAN. I know HE CAN . I know HE CAN.

Oh peace rushes through me.

The freedom to let go and LET GOD because HE CAN.

Oh to lean on the ONE WHO CAN and WHO WILL

and all we have to do is make HIM be our steam engine who

infuses us with

PERSEVERANCE

the staying power

to move up the hill

and to swim against the current,

the moment we realize that we CAN'T do anything without the one who CAN~

"For I can do everything through CHRIST, who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13).

So good-bye New Years Resolutions.

"The only New Year's Resolution I make every year is to collapse more fully on CHRIST

I trust in JESUS' resolve, not mine" (Jack Miller).

So let's enter into

FEBRUARY

tomorrow with our new

Daily Devotional Series~

"PUT HIM IN YOUR STORY"

so that your WILL

becomes

HIS WILL

because

"YES HE CAN" (listen to the song below)
