Day 3: Leaving Familiar

It is UNFAMILIAR~

2022

because we have never been in

2022.

But isn't every NEW YEAR

UNFAMILIAR

because we have never been there before.

But isn't every

NEW DAY UNFAMILIAR

because we have never been there before.

But don't we like what is

FAMILIAR.

FAMILIAR is good. FAMILIAR is easy.

FAMILIAR gives permission to stay the same

But what if everything & everyone stayed the SAME?

Would we get tired of FAMILIAR?

FAMILIAR~

Comfortable. Usual. Routine.

But maybe just maybe

FAMILIAR can be good

as it also takes on the meaning of

"Something or someone that is BELOVED" (word hippo)~

and we are that someone who is

FAMILIAR~

BELOVED, SIGNIFICANT, & PRIZED

by the ONE who is so FAMILIAR

because HE IS always the SAME~

"JESUS CHRIST is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).

When JESUS is our FAMILIAR

HE doesn't leave us the SAME

as HE takes us from the comfortable, the usual, the routine of life

to something so UNFAMILIAR that we never are the SAME again~

"This means that anyone who belongs to CHRIST has become a new person

The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Leaving what is our FAMILIAR behind so that we are never the SAME again

as we continue to

"put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life

and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 

and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,  

and to put on the new self,

created after the likeness of GOD in true righteousness and holiness" (Ephesians 4:21-24).

Do you want REAL CHANGE?

What FAMILIAR do you need to "put off"?

What do you keep doing the SAME that is keeping you in the SAME spot,

but not a good spot?

Is it a habit?

Is it a bitterness that is chipping away at your heart?

Is is an anxious thought that is stealing peace?

Is it a fear that is keeping your paralyzed

so that you will not take that next step?

It is time for REAL CHANGE..

Let's live in the UNFAMILIAR

as we surrender to the FAMILIAR ONE

so that we will never be the SAME again

because we will be oh so much better

as we
