Day 28: Beyond Feelings
TO FEEL OR NOT TO FEEL?
Is that the question or the answer?Hmm.
Ask DAVID.
Read the Psalms.
Oh, how he knew how to FEEL.
His FEELINGS were so big thathe poured them out to GOD all the time.
Listen to him.
He felt ANGER~
“How long, LORD, will the wicked,how long will the wicked be jubilant?”(Psalm 94:3)
He felt SADNESS~
“My tears have been my foodday and night...” (Psalm 42:3)
He felt FEAR~
“When I am afraid,I put my trust in YOU” (Psalm 56:3).
He felt LONELINESS~
“Turn to me and be gracious to me,for I am lonely and afflicted” (Psalm 25:16).
He felt POWERLESS~
“I am feeble and utterly crushed;I groan in anguish of heart" (Psalm 38:8)
And what did he do with those FEELINGS?
He brought them to THE LORD.
He didn't edit his FEELINGSto make them sound CHRISTIANESE.
And what did GOD do?
Did HE turn DAVID away?
GOD listened.
GOD heard.
And then what happened to DAVID?
Oh, he PRAISED GOD~
“Why, my soul, are you downcast?Why so disturbed within me?Put your hope in GOD,for I will yet praise HIM,my SAVIOR and my GOD.” (Psalm 42:11)
David didn't say:
“I don't feel sad anymore”.
His soul is still downcast.
Yet he speaks TRUTH to what he FEELS:
“I WILL YET PRAISE HIM.”
FEELINGS are not the enemy.David FELT them.David NAMED them.David POURED THEM OUT to GOD.
But he didn't allow his FEELINGS to become his GOD.
He brought what he FELTto the ONE who knew what was TRUE.

When you FEEL ALONE~
"The LORD is near to all who call on HIM,
to all who call on HIM in truth.
HE fulfills the desires of those who fear HIM;
HE hears their cry and saves them" (Psalm 145:18-19).
Because GOD isn't a FEELING!
When you FEEL WEAK~
“MY grace is sufficient for you, for MY power is made perfect in weakness...”*
Because GOD isn't a FEELING!
When you FEEL POWERLESS~
"Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses,
so that CHRIST'S power may rest on me" *
Because JESUS isn't a FEELING~
"That is why, for CHRIST'S sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong"
(2 Corinthians 12:9-10).
GOD IS GOD no matter what you or I may be FEELING.
JESUS IS JESUS not matter what you or I are FEELING.
Therefore,
Get Ready.
Get Set.
Go.
