Once Upon A Time there was a blind man
who heard a commotion.
He asked a question.
"What is going on?"
He received an answer~
They told him, “JESUS of Nazareth is passing by.”*
He responded~
He called out, “JESUS, Son of David, have mercy on me!”*
They responded by telling him to be quiet.
He responded~
“Son of David, have mercy on me!”*
Hmm.
JESUS.
HIS voice heard over the rebukers.
I wonder what the blind man thought.
Did he wonder how or even if JESUS was going to respond to him.
He couldn't see. He didn't know.
But maybe he did know,
for why would he call out for JESUS.
I wonder what the crowd was thinking,
as they were rebuking him for his persistence.
I picture the scene.
Did everything grow quiet
as the blind man responded to JESUS by coming closer to HIM,
and JESUS responding with a question?
THE QUESTION~
“What do you want ME to do for you?”*
And then FAITH responded~
“LORD, I want to see,” he replied.*
A question. A response.
No fear. No anxiety. No worry. No doubt.
Was it because the blind man was desperate?
Was it because the blind man had nothing to lose?
What if the blind man listened to the rebuke of the crowd
and didn't speak?
We don't have to wonder.
Because the blind man had
FAITH in the ONE
who he heard was coming into the crowd.
And then the blind man got the response that changed his world~
JESUS said to him,
“Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”*
Oh the power of FAITH that makes you
because the power of FAITH BELIEVES.
And then it happened~
"Immediately he received his sight and followed JESUS, praising GOD."*
IMMEDIATELY.
INSTANTLY.
And it only took a SECOND.
Oh where were the rebukers now?
"When all the people saw it, they also praised GOD" *(Luke 18:35-42)
So who is this story really about?
Is it about the blind man? Is it about the rebukers?
"When all the people saw it, they also praised GOD"*
Oh the FAITH of the one who boldly calls out the name of
JESUS,
IN BELIEF,
brings SIGHT to the blindest of blind.
What if the blind man responded to the rebukers and remained silent?
Or
What if the blind man in his hopelessness never opened his mouth?
Or
What if unworthiness took over his being so that he never asked the question?
Or
What if he wasn't blind,
would his FAITH wanted JESUS?
Hmm.
Do you have a BLIND spot?
How would your FAITH respond to JESUS' question~
“What do you want ME to do for you?”
Go ahead and respond.
Call out HIS NAME~
“LORD, I want to_________"
FAITH RESPONDS.
FAITH acknowledges GOD exists.
FAITH BELIEVES that JESUS makes everyone SEE what they are missing.
FAITH SEES beyond this very moment
and looks into the eyes of
JESUS who
always responds to FAITH.
And it all started with a blind man who had FAITH that could SEE,
so maybe he was never blind after all.
Can't you SEE?
Take this very
SECOND
to
open
your FAITH eyes and call out
HIS NAME
and SEE WHO
removes your BLIND spot.
Oh the
"POWER OF HIS NAME"
