IT happened four years ago.
A little girl was born into this world.
She was
GIFTED LIFE.
Our little granddaughter,
MESA.
A precious miracle of lifeformed by the
SAME GOD
who knitted
me&you&every one of us
in our mother's womb.
Each one
GOD'S WORKMANSHIP.
And think about this...
You had nothing to do with your own beginning.
You didn't wish yourself into existence.
You didn't choose your first heartbeat.
You didn't choose your first breath.
You didn't choose to be
BORN.
LIFE WAS GIVEN TO YOU.
“For YOU created my inmost being;YOU knit me together in my mother's womb”(Psalm 139:13).
Stop right there.
Really think about it.
Before you could
DO anything,
ACHIEVE anything,
PROVE anything,
or
BECOME anything,
GOD already SAW YOU.
You are
HIS WORKMANSHIP.
“For we are HIS workmanship, created in CHRIST JESUS for good works...”(Ephesians 2:10.)
What if you lived your
SECONDS
knowing that your life isn't something you created?
It is a GIFT.
What if you stopped measuring the value of your life
by what you accomplish,
what others think,
how successful you are,
or whether you feel important~
and simply received
LIFE as a gift from THE GIVER OF LIFE?
Because,
IT'S NOT ABOUT ME.
I didn't give myself life.
GOD DID.
But then GOD offers an even greater GIFT.
Not only BIRTH,
but
NEW BIRTH.
Not merely physical life,
but ETERNAL LIFE.
“For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS one and only SON, that whoever believes in HIM shall not perish but have eternal life.”(John 3:16)
Oh to
BELIEVE and be BORN AGAIN.
Now that is a BIRTH~DAY worth celebrating!
So this morning,
I am THANKING GOD as I remember that dayfour years ago when MESA entered our lives.
And this precious little girlcontinues to remind me to have
FAITH LIKE A CHILD.
To TRUST.
To RECEIVE.
To WONDER.
To EMBRACE THIS MOMENT
as the gift that it is.
Because
LIFE IS A GIFT.
But even greater is
NEW LIFE IN CHRIST.
And that deservesa celebration every single day.
So,
HAPPY BIRTH~DAY to you.
Not because you created your own life.
You didn't.
And not because life is ultimately about you and me.
It isn't.
Your life points back to the
ONE WHO GAVE IT.
And your new life points to the
ONE WHO SAVED IT.
JESUS.
So don't just ask,
“What do I want to do with my life?”
Ask,
“GOD, what do YOU want to dothrough the life YOU have given me?”
Because you are
HIS WORKMANSHIP,
created
ON PURPOSE
to live
FOR HIS PURPOSE.
And through JESUS,
you are
"PURPOSELY LOVED" *
by the ONE who gave you LIFE.
