Day 23: Be Still And Know

Is BEING STILL DOING NOTHING?

Lately, I have been focusing on the

SIMPLICITY OF GOD.

And how

HE

UN-COMPLICATES THE COMPLICATED

simply by being

WHO HE IS.

Especially when I stop striving

to un-complicate

what I have made so complicated.

"Be still, and know that I am GOD."

(Psalm 46:10)

Oh, those words!

So SIMPLE.

Yet sometimes,

so very hard to live.

TO BE STILL

when you want to fix things.

TO BE STILL

when you want to untangle things.

TO BE STILL

when you want to change things.

Because when something is wrong,

I want to make it right.

When something is tangled,

I want to straighten it out.

And when something isn't changing,

I want to make it change!

I want. I want. I want.

But what does GOD WANT me to do?

BE STILL AND KNOW THAT GOD IS GOD!

Two actions.

TO BE STILL and TO KNOW!

For you can't do one without the other.

TO BE STILL

when I want to fix things,

AND

TO KNOW THAT I AM GOD.

TO BE STILL

when I want to untangle things,

AND

TO KNOW THAT I AM GOD.

TO BE STILL

when I want to change things

AND

TO KNOW THAT I AM GOD."

Because BEING STILL isn't simply about

what I STOP doing.

It's about

WHO I TRUST

when I stop trying to control everything.

Oh, the FREEDOM

of knowing that

GOD IS GOD

and

TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT!

For to

BE STILL AND KNOW THAT GOD IS GOD

is not doing nothing.

It is choosing to TRUST the ONE who can do what I cannot.

Because

GOD IS GOD.

And no circumstance,

no person,

and no problem

can change

WHO HE IS.

So take a breath.

And another.

And another.

And BE STILL.

Not because everything has been fixed.

Not because every knot has been untangled.

Not because everyone has changed.

But because

GOD HAS NOT CHANGED.

And HE KNOWS

what you cannot see.

HE KNOWS

what you cannot understand.

HE KNOWS

what you cannot control.

And HE KNOWS

you and I far better

than we KNOW ourselves.

So perhaps the greatest thing that happens in the

STILLNESS

isn't that everything around us changes.

Perhaps it is that

we

BEGIN TO CHANGE.

Therefore,

will you join me

AND BE STILL,

releasing

what you cannot fix,

surrender

what you cannot untangle,

and trust HIM

with what you cannot change.

Because it is in the

STILLNESS,

when GOD reminds you

that it was never about what

you or I

 CAN DO.

It has always been about

WHO HE IS.

For

"IN THE STILLNESS, HE IS GOD"

(listen to the song below)
