Day 20: The Good Enough Test
You take the TEST.
The results are POSITIVE.
You are GOOD to go.
The next morning you take the TEST.
The results are NEGATIVE.
You are NOT SO GOOD to go.
What if there was a TEST that
revealed whether you were
GOOD enough
or
NOT SO GOOD enough?
Oh a GOOD enough result would put a pep in your step.
But a NOT GOOD enough result would either make you wallow
or strive harder to achieve the POSITIVE result.
So you decide to stop taking
the TEST
because you are tired of
striving to pass the TEST,
and instead you look up
And there HE IS ~
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with ME and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with ME and work with ME~watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with ME and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly”
(Matthew 11:28-30).
Could it be that easy,
because it sounds way
TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.
But you
COME anyway
and you experience
POSITIVE results even in the midst of the NEGATIVE.
Because what you have discovered is that
it is not in your doing or being,
because it is about
HIS doing and being in your life
that gives you a POSITIVE reading every time,
even in the not so GOOD enough moments.
Because
JESUS FORGIVES the unforgivable,
JESUS FAVORS the unfavored,
and
JESUS FREES us all from
the striving to measure up
in a world where the standards are always changing.
You take the TEST.
And it is always POSITIVE,
because you are yoked to the
ONE who is
TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE~
"Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in CHRIST, and be up and about!" (Romans 13:14)
