Day 20: More Than A Memory

As THANKSGIVING approaches

EMOTIONS stir

as I look back at past THANKSGIVINGS.

I remember when a new baby was born

there was always a picture taken

with the turkey leg

with the baby.

My dad had started this "tradition",

so that I have the pictures of my 3 children

with the infamous turkey leg.

I started to pass this on with my grandchildren.

And then things change.

Oh how things change.

What WAS is no longer.

And you wonder if what WAS will ever be again.

And then GOD reminds me that

HE WAS

HE IS

&

HE WILL BE AGAIN.

GOD is the constant that never changes.

JESUS is the constant that never changes.

And that brings JOY to my soul,

as it is a FOREVER JOY

that never changes,

but continually changes me,

as GOD'S GRACE is like a flood

that fills every nook and crany of my heart

bringing a newness that is indescribable

in an ever changing world.

Oh how THANKFUL I am to GOD

for HE guards my HEART,

because HIS SON HEALS the brokenhearted

as life has a way of bringing broken into a beautiful heart

that GOD created in each one of us

at our birth.

That moment

when GOD made the CHOICE to create each one of us.

How can you not THANK GOD

for being there in your PAST

from the moment HE knitted you together in your mother's womb.

How can you not THANK GOD

for being in your PRESENT as HE sent HIS SON

who you ABIDE IN as you FOLLOW HIM so that HIS PEACE overwhelms you.

How can you not THANK GOD

for giving you HIS HOLY SPIRIT who empowers you to do

what you never imagined you could do.

You just can't help yourself but to

THANK our never changing

GOD

who changes you.

So as you enter into this THANKSGIVING week

THANK GOD for who HE is

in every emotion that may be stirred in your precious heart

that is attached to a memory of a

THANKSGIVING past,

because holidays have a way of bringing up those memories~

memories of those who are longer here,

memories of those who are here, yet are estranged,

memories of those days when all was well,

and

memories of those days that were not so well.

But there is one memory that is not a memory

but a forever REALITY.

Once upon a time GOD knitted you together on purpose,

just so HE could LOVE YOU.

Once Upon A Time GOD sent HIS SON to die for you,

just so HE could LOVE YOU.

Once Upon A Time GOD made a promise

that never changes

"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Because Once Upon A Time

GOD made a PROMISE~

"I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My FATHER, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the FATHER'S hand. I and the FATHER are one" (John 10:28-30).

Just because GOD IS not a MEMORY

as HE IS IN every MOMENT

and that makes every MOMENT

a MOMENT filled with

THANKSGIVING.

So whatever was or wasn't in your life in the past

and whatever is or isn't in your life in the present

look up and embrace

WHO WAS and WHO IS and WHO WILL ALWAYS BE

in your life

and just tell

HIM

"THANK YOU"

(listen to the song below)
