I hear the words
DO NOT,
but then I want to
DO
the
DO NOT DO,
because I wonder why I am not allowed to
DO NOT.
And GOD lets me DO it anyway,
because I KNOW HE KNOWS
I will eventually come back
and DO IT HIS WAY.
So when
GOD says
"DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR UNDERSTANDING"*(ESV)
or better yet,
"DO NOT RELY ON YOUR OWN INSIGHT OF UNDERSTANDING"*(NET)
or in even simpler terms
"DON'T ASSUME THAT YOU KNOW IT ALL"* *(MSG),
what
GOD REALLY wants
is for
you, and me, and everyone else
TO UNDERSTAND
that we
DO NOT LEAN
&
DO NOT RELY
&
DON'T ASSUME.
I wonder if maybe I should read this same verse
in more versions or in other languages,
or maybe just maybe
I will heed the words that are spoken to me
and
DO NOT
LEAN,
RELY,
&
ASSUME
on my own UNDERSTANDING.
And why should I DO NOT?
Because GOD UNDERSTANDS
how my wee little brains work
and that the more
I STRIVE to
UNDERSTAND
I will end up
more
CONFUSED,
and
NOT UNDERSTANDING
anything!
So if
GOD really UNDERSTANDS,
then this wee little brain of mine
is taking a break
from
DOING what
HE asks me to NOT DO.
So I will go back to the
DO NOT
that HE wants me to
DO NOT DO
and only
DO
what HE tells me
TO DO in the first place.
Oh the FREEDOM of SURRENDER,
to stop
STRIVING to
UNDERSTAND the UN~UNDERSTANDABLE.
Did I confuse you yet?
Well I hope you are not trying to
UNDERSTAND me!
Do you have an UN~UNDERSTANDABLE in your life
that you are trying to UNDERSTAND?
Will you join me
and DO what GOD ASKS from us,
to do with the
UN~UNDERSTANDABLE.
TICK. TICK. TICK.
Just put your name in the blank
and say it out loud.

TRUST IN,
and
_________________,
RELY CONFIDENTLY ON THE LORD
with
ALL your HEART,
_________________"*.
So far so good.
TO TRUST IN
and
RELY CONFIDENTLY ON THE LORD
with ALL MY HEART.
There is that word
ALL.
And when GOD says ALL
HE means ALL.
And if we are
TRUSTING GOD and RELYING CONFIDENTLY ON HIM
with our ALL,
then the next WORDS are a no brainer to
DO NOT do
"AND, ______________,
DO NOT RELY ON YOUR OWN INSIGHT OR UNDERSTANDING"*
Let that sink in.
Actually it makes me laugh
as now
I UNDERSTAND
why I wouldn't want to
LEAN ON
&
RELY ON
&
ASSUME
my own UNDERSTANDING,
because you can't
TRUST GOD with ALL YOUR HEART
and then try to
UNDERSTAND the UN~UNDERSTANDABLE.
Therefore~
"In ALL YOUR WAYS,
______________,
KNOW AND ACKNOWLEDGE AND RECOGNIZE HIM"*
So if you TRUST IN
and RELY CONFIDENTLY ON THE LORD,
then you are INVITING HIM into
ALL of
those areas of your life that you
DON'T UNDERSTAND.
But
if GOD is with you,
and HE UNDERSTANDS ALL THINGS,
then what do you have to lose?
So why does GOD ask us to take HIS DO NOTS seriously?
Because HE can do our life way better than we can,
as HE IS
working
ALL THINGS for the GOOD of those who LOVE HIM.
So why not LET GOD BE GOD
because
"__________________,
HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATHS,
STRAIGHT AND SMOOTH,
REMOVING OBSTACLES THAT BLOCK YOUR WAY" *
*(Proverbs 3:5-6).
Phew,
now that was a mouthful,
but now my
HEART is FULL
of more of GOD and less of me,
as I FINALLY get the message.
Therefore,
I WILL
"NOT LEAN ON MY OWN UNDERSTANDING"*
