Oh, what we can learn from the eagle~ or should I say,
THE EAGLET.
*******************************
Once upon a time, a precious little EAGLET sat in her nest.
Comfy.
Cozy.
Safe.
Everything she needed was provided for her.
Until one day,
MOMMY EAGLE began removing the soft padding from the nest,
piece by piece.
Suddenly,
comfortable became
UNCOMFORTABLE.
The little EAGLET was bewildered.
Then terrified,
because MOMMY EAGL brought her to the edge of the nest.
And it certainly looked like she was about to push her OUT.
"What?" gasps the EAGLET.
"You're going to do WHAT?
Have you seen how far it is from here to the ground?"
MOMMY EAGLE reminds her:
"You were given wings to fly."
"But I like the nest!", cries the EAGLET
But where's DADDY?
"I need to talk to DAD about this!"
MOMMY EAGLE simply says,
"LOOK UP."
And when the little EAGLET LOOKS UP.
And up in the beautiful blue sky the eaglet sees the wingspan of her
DADDY spread across the sky as HE hovers over the nest.
Then at that moment,
the MOMMY EAGLE pushes her EAGLET out of the nest.
And immediately
the EAGLET'S wings open wide and she begins to SOAR.
Gliding,
the EAGLET'S eyes are peeled on her
DADDY
Who is SOARING ABOVE with
HIS eyes peeled on HIS daughter,
ready to catch her if she falls.
The MOMMY EAGLE has tears in her eyes as her job is complete,
but the FATHER'S job has just begun.
HE will never leave for HE will always be SOARING ABOVE,
and that is where the EAGLET has placed her HOPE.
*******************************
“You see, an eaglet cannot fall faster than her FATHER can fly (de Guia)."
And maybe that is the lesson for you and me.
Sometimes we become so focused on
"MY" NEST,
MY COMFORT,
MY SECURITY,
MY PLAN,
MY TIMING,
that we forget to look at
OUR FATHER.
Instead we remain focused on:
Why is this happening to ME?
Why did MY comfortable place change?
Why isn't GOD doing what I want HIM to do?
Why is MY WAIT taking so long?
But then GOD whispers...
LOOK UP.
Because
IT'S NOT ABOUT ME.
It's about TRUSTING GOD
when the nest is comfortable and when it isn't.
When I understand and when I don't.
When I'm resting and when I'm falling.
When I'm waiting and when I'm finally learning to fly.
Because,
maybe GOD isn't taking something from you.
Maybe HE is teaching you to depend more completely on HIM.
Because sometimes we don't discover
what GOD can do until we stop depending on what WE can do.
But because
IT'S NOT ABOUT ME,
as
it's about
TRUSTING OUR FATHER who art in heaven hallowed be HIS name!
GOD gave us wings.
GOD also knows that life will clip our wings,
yet we are still able to soar to greater heights,
because HE is the ONE who renews our strength.
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”
(Isaiah 40:30-31).
Notice WHO renews our strength.
Not me, but THE LORD.
And notice where our HOPE is placed.
Not in our wings.
Not in our ability to fly.
Not even in whether our circumstances change.
Our HOPE is IN THE LORD.
That's
IT'S NOT ABOUT ME in action
We don't have to know how everything will work out.
We don't have to manufacture the strength to soar.
We don't have to control the wind.
You simply keep your eyes
on
THE ONE
who created you,
carries you,
strengthens you,
and never leaves you~
even if you find yourself standing at the edge wondering,
"What now?".
Because you are
FREE TO SOAR.
Just
"LOOK UP CHILD"
(listen to the song below)
