You see the SEA.
And then you hear the words,
"COME TO ME".
You look to your left.
You look to your right.
You see no one.
You see the SEA.
And you hear the words
"COME TO ME".
You hear them so clearly,
knowing exactly where they are coming from,
but you look down to the sandy beach.
You know exactly where the words are coming from
and you know exactly who is saying them,
but there is a problem.
You see the raging SEA before you,
and that is where you are
INVITED
to
COME.
But you are WAITING for
GOD to do what HE does best
and part the SEA,
making a smooth path for you to walk.
But HE doesn't.
HE wants you to PRESS FORWARD
as HE sent HIS SON
to INVITE you to
COME,
despite the SEA.
Oh HE is pushing TRUST to another level.
What do you do?
You can run the other way, and ignore HIS INVITATION.
You can pretend it isn't JESUS speaking to you.
So what if you said NO.
Could you ever go back to that beach
and look at the SEA again
and be the same.
But maybe that is why JESUS is asking you to
"COME TO ME",
so that you will never be the same again.
You look to the left.
You look to the right.
You look at the SEA.
And you put your big toe in the water
and then the other four toes follow.
And before you know it you are
walking where you never have walked before
and now you wish you would have answered
HIS INVITATION
in the past
when others have told you about
HIM in the past,
but just shrugged HIM off as just some
religious character who is in church
who could never do for you
what HE has done for the other
characters in the BIBLE.
But now you know why.
Because you didn't see the SEA in front of you,
you saw FEAR instead.
The FEAR that
JESUS may let you down,
just like all the others who have let you down.
The FEAR that JESUS may condemn you,
just like the others who have condemned you.
The FEAR that JESUS may not be who HE says HE is.
But FEAR doesn't stop JESUS.
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid” (Matthew 14:27).
You look to your left.
You look to your right.
You look at the SEA.
“COME TO ME".
Do you COME?
Is JESUS asking you to take that STEP of FAITH
in a direction that you are too afraid to take,
because you
don't
TRUST
JESUS
to be ENOUGH
and
to do ENOUGH
for little "ole you?
Are you waiting to SEE GOD to part the SEA before you will
TRUST HIM ENOUGH
to take that STEP forward.
For maybe just maybe
HE is waiting for you to take
the first
STEP
because
HE is already there
waiting for you
to
"experience superabundantly more than all that we dare ask
or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams],
according to HIS power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 4:20).
Will you join me today
and
FAST from the
FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN
by taking that
STEP OF FAITH with the ONE who will take you there,
because JESUS will never take you
where HE isn't already there.
Therefore,

"Walk by FAITH

not by sight,
living your life _________________,
in a manner consistent with your confident belief in GOD'S promises!"
