Day 16: What's Eating you?

Is food really the enemy or is it the "appetizer" that comes first?
You know~
when the appetizer of ANGER, ANXIETY or FRUSTRATION wets your palette
& you then reach for food.
If you are what you eat, then if you eat ANGER won't you be angry?
Oh the Temptation to eat
FEAR, DOUBT & BITTERNESS & ________.
What are you really eating, or what is really eating you?
Hmm...
It all began in the garden when DOUBT was dressed as an apple.
Abiding in the wrong vine. You become what you abide in.
But what if we FASTED from the real culprits that weigh us down.
Losing a pound of SHAME & BLAME
or BITTERNESS & REJECTION
or UNWHOLESOME TALK & CONDEMNATION
or _________.
Well tomorrow is the day~
FEBRUARY 17~
the first day of LENT,
when many FAST from "something"
in the time of WAITING for EASTER.
To FAST.
To abstain. To deny.
To say no when you want to say yes.
Going without something that you desire.
So how do we
BE WAITLESS~ MOVING FORWARD IN THE MIDDLE OF WAIT?
By
PUTTING OFF,
FASTING FROM
the
the REAL things that "weigh" us down
that strive to steal
our experiencing the
abundant life that JESUS has come to give
as we are in middle of
WAITING
for the
BREAKTHROUGH
that EASTER represents.
Do you want to draw closer to JESUS
in order to
gain
MORE PEACE
MORE JOY
MORE HOPE
MORE LOVE.
Oh it is possible, as we don't do it alone.
JESUS knows the struggle, as HE experienced it first hand, yet never succumbed to it~
"Because HE HIMSELF suffered when
HE was tempted, HE is able to help those who are being tempted" (Hebrews 2:18).
What is in your hand that you are getting ready to "eat" ?
Get ready to drop it so you can take the hand of the
ONE
Who will take you to spaces & places
where
less becomes MORE~
No MORE anger.
No MORE anxiety.
No MORE fear.
No MORE ________.
because
now is the time
to drop
the weight
that weighs us down.
while we
WAIT.
