I remember her NAME,
as every NAME has a REAL STORY
worth remembering.
DORCAS~
A REAL NAME
attached to a REAL PERSON
who is tucked away in the BIBLE
who is so worth remembering
that she also goes by the
NAME of TABITHA.
"In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas);
she was always doing good & helping the poor"*
Now you see why she is worth remembering as
"she was always doing good & helping the poor" *
But like everybody else she was not exempt from
REAL LIFE~
"About that time she became sick & died,
& her body was washed & placed in an upstairs room"*
It only took one sentence to go from living to dying.
But this is only the beginning of her REAL STORY
because when a REAL GOD shows up
HE changes every
STORY
& this time HE used a well known man
NAMED PETER who was invited into her STORY~
"Peter went with them, & when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room.
All the widows stood around him, crying & showing him the robes & other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them"*
Was it really about the clothing?
"Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees & prayed.
Turning toward the dead woman, he said,
'TABITHA, get up.'
She opened her eyes, & seeing Peter she sat up.
He took her by the hand & helped her to her feet.
Then he called for the believers,
especially the widows, & presented her to them alive"*
Oh this woman who is so worth remembering that she was known by 2 NAMES~
"This became known all over Joppa, & many people believed in the LORD" *(Acts 9:36-42)
REAL LIFE. REAL STORY. REAL GOD.
It may have taken the name of DORCAS or TABITHA
to get us to read a
REAL STORY~
but
What NAME is really worth remembering?
