Day 14: Misplaced Hope

Do you ever

LOSE HOPE

when

it

FEELS

as if

THE SOMETHING that you are PRAYING about

is falling upon deaf ears,

because

it

FEELS

as if

NOTHING is HAPPENING.

You

FEEL

like you are

TRUSTING GOD

&

you

FEEL

like you are

FOLLOWING JESUS,

yet wonder THEY are

when

HOPELESSNESS becomes

THE OPEN DOOR

that you start to walk through.

So you

TRY to TRUST GOD harder

and

TRY to FOLLOW JESUS harder

when it isn't in the

TRYING,

but in the

LETTING GO

of

MISPLACED HOPE.

I hate to admit it, but I will ,

as I am FEELING like this on this early morn.

BUT when I take these

FEELINGS to GOD,

oh how HE he HEARS

and then

reminds me that

GOD IS NOT A FEELING

&

JESUS IS NOT A FEELING.

And that is where my problem lies.

Just because I

FEEL NOTHING is HAPPENING,

doesn't mean

that GOD is sleeping on the job.

For GOD tells us

to TRUST IN HIM

and not in our

OWN UNDERSTANDING,

for our

OWN UNDERSTANDING

is our

FEELINGS!

FEELINGS are not TRUTH.

And when you are a

FEELING person like me,

your FEELINGS start to slowly trump TRUTH,

until

you become so wrapped up in your

FEELINGS

that you BELIEVE that there is

SOMETHING

more that you can do

to speed up the process of

WAITING on GOD.

MISPLACED HOPE~

placing your

HOPE

in

THE SOMETHING HAPPENING

instead of

GOD HAPPENING.

Therefore,

I make

THE SOMETHING my god.

And yes a little "g",

because there is only

ONE GOD

who gets the capital G.

THE GOD

for where

my HOPE has to be placed.

GOD is always HAPPENING

whether

I FEEL or SEE

THE SOMETHING HAPPENING.

Picture this.

You see two doors.

One door has a sign with

FEELINGS

above it,

as it is the DOOR that is attached to

THE SOMETHING that you want to HAPPEN.

The other door

has a sign above it with the name of

JESUS.

Which DOOR would you OPEN and walk through?

Hmm.

The immediate Christian-ese answer is THE JESUS DOOR,

but oh how I choose

THE FEELINGS DOOR

because I know

GOD & JESUS cares about

THE SOMETHING,

and I know THEY would understand

why I would CHOOSE that DOOR.

So I turn the knob.

And then I hear the words

coming from the

JESUS DOOR~

"TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART" (Proverbs 3:5).

I stop for a second,

yet continue to turn the doorknob

for I know that I know that

GOD cares about THE SOMETHING too.

And then I hear the words

coming from the

JESUS DOOR~

"HAVE FAITH IN GOD" (Mark 11:22).

I stop.

You stop.

So there it is.

FAITH.

FAITH HOPES in the UNSEEN,

because you

BELIEVE what GOD SEES.

HE SEES your

SOMETHING

that you are PRAYING about.

And JESUS FEELS what you FEEL about your

SOMETHING.

So if GOD SEES and JESUS FEELS,

which DOOR do you OPEN?

And then you hear the words

coming from

THE JESUS DOOR~

"FIX YOUR EYES ON ME" (Hebrews 12:2.)

And now you RELEASE your hand from the doorknob

You walk over to the

JESUS DOOR

because you are

SURRENDERING

THE FEELINGS DOOR TO GOD.

You turn the doorknob

and a

PEACE washes over you like you have never FELT before.

You are greeted with the words,

"Peace I leave with you; MY [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let MY perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge]" (John 14:27).

HOPE returns to your soul

because you

no longer

TRUST IN FEELINGS

because you

"TRUST IN JESUS"

(listen to the song below)
