Day 13: Are You Awake

My hubby and I experienced an Italian adventure.
Even though we were in a DIFFERENT country,
we were still the SAME.
THE SAME,
as we do the SAME thing
that we do when we are home.
We wake up.
We have our personal quiet time with GOD.
We have our prayer and GOD time together,
with espresso of course.
And then go about our day
with an open heart to all that
GOD has for us.
For that day.
For that moment.
And the IT happens.
You start talking to a waitress,
who speaks english mixed with her native Italian language.
Whether it is BUON GIORNO
or
GOOD MORNING,
it is all the SAME.
Different country. Yet so the SAME.
Most of the time we would just sit still
and take in the beautiful scenery of the land.
An eye opening experience was when we visited Pompeii.
A destroyed,
yet preserved culture underneath molten ash.
The ash that formed around the once living bodies,
freezing them in time,
in the position of what they were doing
when the volcano erupted.
Frozen in time.
Just an empty shell,
as nothing remains inside of them.
Their SOULS have left,
never to return to earth again.
But as we looked at the outer shells of the people,
I thought about our outer shell,
this temporary body clothed in skin
that ages
with every ticking second.
But what really matters
is
THE SOUL
that lies beneath our outer shell.
THE SOUL.
THE HEART of the MATTER.
The living part of each one of us,
that is made up our mind and emotions,
that stays alive as long as our hearts are ticking.
But the ashes come.
Where are the SOULS of
the frozen bodies of Pompeii?
Was JESUS in their hearts?
Time to get Christian-ese.
What I learned from Pompeii
was what LIFE is really about.
LIFE is about DEATH, but not in a morbid way.
LIFE is about your SOUL.
Where is your SOUL going to be when
DEATH comes knocking at your door,
like a thief in the night?
For just as Mt. Vesuvius spurted out molten lava,
causing so many to run as quick as they could
to save their lives,
but it was too late.
There were warning signs,
yet ignored.
Just as we have warning signs.
"Keep watch! I come unannounced, like a thief.
You’re blessed if, awake and dressed, you’re ready for ME.
Too bad if you’re found running through the streets,
naked and ashamed”
(Revelation 16:15, MSG).
Are you COVERED by the BLOOD OF JESUS,
so when HE comes
HE will take you with HIM
forever and ever and ever.
When HIS PERFECT JOY becomes
your FOREVER REALITY!
GET READY. GET SET. GO.
"So stay awake, alert.
You have no idea what day your MASTER will show up.
But you do know this: You know that if the homeowner had known what time of night the burglar would arrive, he would have been there with his dogs to prevent the break-in.
Be vigilant just like that.
You have no idea when the SON OF MAN is going to show up"
( Matthew 24, MSG).
Oh, but
THE JOY of knowing where your
SOUL will be FOREVER when JESUS has your SOUL,
gives you something to be
JOYFUL about,
not only in June
but in every month.
From HERE TO ETERNITY,
for JESUS IS HERE NOW!
Therefore,
why wouldn't you
"WALK WITH JESUS"
