Day 12: Imperfect Christian

I have been striving to be the

PERFECT CHRISTIAN,

and you know what?

There is no such thing as a

PERFECT CHRISTIAN.

And the more I strive to be,

the more I lose,

striving to PROVE my goodness,

when there is no GOOD in me apart from JESUS.

And the more I strive to PROVE my goodness,

the more I lose.

I have to get off the hamster wheel

and

LET GOD be GOD

and

LET JESUS be JESUS,

as my striving to be

the PERFECT CHRISTIAN

backfires every time.

I so relate to the words of Paul,

"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: CHRIST JESUS came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, CHRIST JESUS might display HIS immense patience as an example for those who would believe in HIM and receive eternal life"

(I Timothy 1:15).

I am humbled to know that there is nothing good in me,

expect for JESUS.

Therefore,

I will never claim or strive to be the PERFECT CHRISTIAN,

as I am a FOLLOWER of CHRIST,

who I need,

because I am a sinner saved by GRACE.

So to all the recovering PERFECT CHRISTIANS,

these words of this poem are for you and for me~

When I Say I Am A Christian

By Carol Wimmer, 1988

"When I say, 'I am a Christian', I’m not shouting, “I’ve been saved!”~

I’m whispering, “I get lost sometimes That’s why I chose this way”.

When I say, 'I am a Christian', I don’t speak with human pride~

I’m confessing that I stumble – needing GOD to be my guide.

When I say, 'I am a Christian', I’m not trying to be strong~

I’m professing that I’m weak and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say, 'I am a Christian', I’m not bragging of success~

I’m admitting that I’ve failed and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say, 'I am a Christian', I don’t think I know it all~

I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught.

When I say, 'I am a Christian', I’m not claiming to be perfect~

My flaws are far too visible, but GOD believes I’m worth it.

When I say, 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain~

I have my share of heartache, which is why I seek God’s name.

When I say, 'I am a Christian', I do not wish to judge~

I have no authority, I only know I’m loved"

******

Therefore,

I will continue to

rest in

THE PERFECT ONE

and

PRESS FORWARD with JESUS

because

"I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST"

(listen to the song below)
