Day 1: Life Is Short

A NEW DAY.

A NEW MONTH.

TICK. TICK. TICK.

LIFE IS SHORT.

And so am I.

And there is absolutely nothingI can do about it.

Well...

maybe there is.

Not about being SHORT.

But about

HOW I LIVETHIS SHORT LIFE.

Because

LIFE IS SHORT,

I want to

EXPERIENCE THE ABUNDANT LIFE

that JESUS came to give me.

“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly”(John 10:10).

JESUS was born.

JESUS lived.

JESUS died.

JESUS rose.

So that those who

BELIEVE IN HIM

could have

LIFE.

Not merely a longer life.

Not necessarily an easier life.

But a

NEW LIFE IN HIM.

My LIFE.

Your LIFE.

Different lives.

Different circumstances.

Different stories.

But

JESUS IS THE SAME.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever"(Hebrews 13:8).

And maybe I have been looking atthis ABUNDANT LIFE backward.

 The ABUNDANT LIFE isn't about

MORE FOR ME.

 It's about

MORE OF JESUS IN ME.

Because when there is

MORE OF JESUS

in my life,

there becomes

LESS OF ME.

“HE must become greater; I must become less"(John 3:30).

Oh...

There it is.

IT'S NOT ABOUT ME.

It's not about making

MY LIFE

bigger.

It's about allowing

JESUS

to become greater in the lifeHE has given me.

And suddenly,

even though

LIFE IS SHORT,

I can

LIVE TALL.

Want to

LIVE TALL?

Then maybe it beginsby loosening our grip on everythingthat keeps pulling our eyes back toward

"ME".

"My" anxiety.

"My" fear.

"My" loneliness.

"My" rejection.

"My" doubt.

"My" disappointment.

"My"__________.

Because all of these things can become so loud

that they try to

ROB

the JOY from the lifeJESUS has given us.

But they don't get the final word.

JESUS DOES.

So can we say

GOOD-BYE

to allowing

ANXIETY&FEAR&LONELINESS&REJECTION&DOUBT

to define our LIVES?

Oh yes,

when JESUS becomes our "MY".

JESUS IS MY PEACEin the midst of anxiety.

“And the peace of GOD, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in CHRIST JESUS”(Philippians 4:7).

HE IS "MY" TRUTH,therefore

I, _______________,  can TRUST in the midst of doubt.

“I am the way and the truth and the life”(John 14:6).

HE IS "MY" COMPANIONin the midst of loneliness.

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you”(Hebrews 13:5),

HE IS "MY" FAITHin the midst of fear.

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in YOU”(Psalm 56:3).

And HE IS the ONE who reminds "ME"

that rejection does not determine who I am.

Because

I, ______________, BELONG TO HIM.

“See what great love the FATHER has lavished on us,

that we should be called children of GOD!”(1 John 3:1).

LIFE IS SHORT.

But oh,

 how much

TALLER

life becomes when I stop trying to make everything about

ME

and begin relying upon

THE ONE

who gave me

LIFE.

Paul said it this way:

“I have been crucified with CHRIST and I no longer live, but CHRIST lives in me”(Galatians 2:20).

There it is again.

LESS OF ME.

MORE OF HIM.

Because the goal of my lifeisn't simply to

LIVE LONG.

It's to

LIVE FOR JESUS.

“For to me, to live is CHRISTand to die is gain”(Philippians 1:21).

Because this SHORT earthly lifeisn't

ALL THERE IS.

JESUS came to giveme&you

something this ticking clock can never take away:

ETERNAL LIFE.

“For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HiIS one and only SON,

that whoever believes IN HIM shall not perish but have eternal life”(John 3:16).

Oh...

LIFE IS SHORT.

But

ETERNITY IS FOREVER.

And one day,

this SHORT girl with this SHORT earthly life

will stand

FACE TO FACE

with

JESUS.

And then I won't even think aboutwhether I was

SHORTorTALL.

Because I will finally understandthat it was never about

HOW BIG I WAS.

It was always about

HOW GREAT HE IS.

“For from HIM and through HIM and for HIM are all things.

To HIM be the glory forever!"(Romans 11:36).

Therefore,

if

LIFE IS SHORT,

what are you going to dowith the life HE has given you?

TICK.

TICK.

TICK.

I know what I want to continue to do.

Less of ME.

MORE OF JESUS.

To LOVE HIM.

To FOLLOW HIM.

To TRUST HIM.

To GLORIFY HIM.

And with every SECONDHE gives me,

to

EXPERIENCE THE ABUNDANT LIFE

only by

THE GRACE OF GOD.

Because

IT'S NOT ABOUT ME.

It is

ALL ABOUT JESUS.

Therefore,

let's

“LIVE IT WELL”
