They were free.
BUT THEN
They saw the water in front of them.
UN~FREE!
They saw the Egyptian Army coming from behind.
NO WAY OUT!
They panicked to the one who was sent to set them FREE.
"They cried out to the LORD, and they said to Moses,
“Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness?
Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt?
What have you done to us?
Why did you make us leave Egypt?"
And now their past home of slavery sounded really good~
"It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’” (Exodus 14:10-12)
FREE or UN~FREE?
Are you still FREE when you don't see a way out?
Do you want to run back to "what was" when you are encamped in
"what is" and all you see is a land of impossibility?
Oh how life before appears to be oh so much better
when you have lost control.
“If only the LORD had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned.
There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted.
But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death” (Exodus 16:3)
BUT GOD
Parts the sea anyway
BUT GOD
Feeds them anyway
BUT GOD
never stops being GOD even when
we grumble and complain
and act out in
FEAR
when CONTROL has been lost.
“Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today.
The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.
The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”(Exodus 14:13).
The same GOD of the Old Testament is
The same GOD of the New Testament is
The same GOD of today~
Always in our story.
Always in control.
Always better.
"Then JESUS said, 'Did I not tell you that if you believe,
you will see the glory of GOD?'" (John 11:41)
FREE or UN~FREE~
when all you see is the raging waters ahead and the armies behind?
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your GOD goes with you; HE will never leave you nor forsake you" (Deuteronomy 31:6)
Why would you ever want to go back
when HE is right here in the midst of the impossible
just as HE was there and will always be
as HE never gives up on you & me & everyone else
because HE is our
"RESCUE STORY" (listen to the song below)
