Dotted


Look at the picture above

What do you see?

Looks quite obvious doesn't it

because

I bet you see a

Big Black Dot.

Well that is what the students all saw

when a professor had them do the same assignment

when he handed them a piece of white paper,

like the one above,

with a

Black Dot

in the middle.

Just like

Dot, Dot, Dots

that follow after your

perfect beginning to your story, your

Once Upon A time there lived a little boy/girl named ___________

and then the

. . .

that follow

representing

the chapters inyour life

filled with the

Characters

Settings &Plots

that are all a part of your story.~

the Chapter you just came out of

the Chapter you are living right now

the Chapter that you will be going into to..

Filled with

the good dots

the not so good dots

the dots you want to remember

the dots you don't want to remember.

But

no matter how you look at them

they still dotted and are dotting your life.

Now what?

So what do you do with the not so good dots

that you just can't stop thinking about

that you just can't stop worrying about

because that is all that you see~

because

they left a mark,

they left a message on your heart.

What is dotting your life right now?

Is a dot from the past

Is a dot in your present

Is a dot that hasn't happened yet?

Whatever the dot may be

it is there.

Well...

the students did not get an A on that assignment

because none of them saw what was really on the piece of paper~

the

white

that was so much bigger

than the black dot.

The

white

that makes the black dot so much smaller.

But aren't we like that

when all we see & focus on is

the dot

in the middle of our life.

I am not minimizing the pain of the dots in our life

because they are real,

impacting our lives in such sorrowful ways,

but

I also know that the more

I fix my eyes on

the dot,

whether it is from the past, or in the present or one that I am worrying about in the future,

it consumes me and just gets

bigger and

bigger and

bigger

until there is no white space left to see~

No joy

No peace

No hope.

But

when I look away from

the dot

and fix my eyes on

the

white

in my life

that is all around me

that is all around you~

His Blessings

His Faithfulness

His Love

His Peace

His Joy~

that He tells me to fix my eyes on

whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy...

and I

think about such things. Philippians 4

Fixing my eyes

Fixing your eyes

on the

White

so that

the power of the

Big Black Dot

becomes

smaller

so much

smaller

no longer consuming me

no longer consuming you

because

He becomes

brighter

and

Whiter

so that

White

is

all we see.

And all that it takes

is for me

&

for you

to shift our eyes

and

Put Me in His Story

Whatever _______________ (PUT your name)

has learned or received or heard from me,

or seen in me—

put it into practice.

And the God of peace will be with _____________. Philippians 4

And

then the

Big Black Dot

will no longer

be so big because

He

is

so much

Bigger

way

Bigger

than

any

of the

. . .

in your life.
