Day 34: Where's the Rush?

Manic Monday

Rushing

to get everything done before Friday, but all in one day.

Moving as fast as I can

because that is the only way I know how to move...

but it always slows me down

because while I am rushing

I am creating more of a mess

that I have to rush to clean up

so that I will get everything done.

Rushing:

"a sudden forward motion, or a surge or onslaught."

Rushing:

a Race

What are you in a rush to get done?

What is your finish line that you are focused on?

We are told that life is a race in Hebrews 12:1

and how to run it~

" let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us".

Perseverance:

It is a determination, unhurrying and yet undelaying, which goes steadily on and refuses to be deflected.” (Barclay)

Perseverance: patient enduruance

The same perseverance Jesus had as He entered into Jerusalem

the last week of His Life,

that began Holy Week~

it was the best of times , and the worst of times~

as our Pastor so brilliantly explained yesterday.

This got me thinking...

What if Jesus rushed to the cross?

What if He raced right from the cradle to the cross

with nothing in-between~

No walking on water

No healing the brokenhearted

No temptation in the dessert

No rejection

No...

But He took His time

as He walked this earth

with patient endurance

so He could

walk this last week of His life

with patient endurance

showing us how it is done.

Jesus' eyes were fixed on the finish line~

on the cross,

well not really because

His eyes were fixed on

the joy set before Him~

the Joy

that was to happen after the cross

the Joy

that He didn't rush to make happen

the Joy

that put Him on the cross

the Joy

as He felt every nail that the soldiers didn't even rush to drive into Him

the Joy

as He cried out in pain to His Father

the Joy

that He didn't rush through

as He waited three days

before

He rose...

All for the joy as

He endured the cross,

pateintly enduring

so that we

can patiently endure

as we walk from

our the cradle to our cross...

Our cross~

where we get to nail whatever is hindering , weighing us down~

let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.

" But there are also things that may not be sin (every weight) but are merely hindrances that can keep us from running effectively the race God has for us."(Guzik)

Rushing

hinders

because

if Jesus rushed

it would have hindered us

from ever experiencing real

Joy!

Let's finish strong this week

because Jesus finished strong

this week and

Fast

from

Rushing

in our thinking

in our being

in our doing

by

fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

our finish line

Our Joy~

WHO

enables us to

do one thing at one time

because HE did the

One thing

One time

to save us

for Once.

Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12: 1-3

So why are you rushing?

*Hmm, God would not let me rush through this writing this morning...
