Adam and Eve did it
Jonah did it
the Prodigal Son did it
And
Joni Jones did it
We ran...
Away.
No matter how you look at it
Running Away doesn’t count as an exercise
because Running Away is standing still.
It brings with you what you are running away from~
YOU
and that heart inside.
Running as far as you can
Away
to
somewhere or something else.
Yet no matter where your destination is,
your heart will be there too!
What do you run from?
Is it your past, present or future?
And
Where do you run to when you don't want to be or feel where you are?
What if Jesus ran away from the cross~
Where would
Hope
Love &
Peace
be found?
Where would
Forgiveness
Grace
Mercy
be received?
Jesus tells us that
the Prodigal Son
Ran away from home
but
"...when he came to his senses...
he got up and went back to his Father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his Father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he RAN to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." (Luke 15:17-20)
No questions asked.
So who really is the runner?
God tells us how to run to by...
"throwing off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith"
because
He is running to you
only because
His Son
has opened up His arms
on the cross
so He could put them around you.
So let's put on our sneakers today
as we have a race to run
By
continuing to throw off everything that hinders~
those stubborn 40 pounds that weigh you down~
and
let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
by fixing
our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12)
Who welcomes you
just as you are~
Not as who you think you should be.
We run by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)
by
fasting from running away
and running to
the One
Who teaches us how to run
because He first ran to us.
