I don't want to work out today....but I know it is good for me
I don't want to not eat cake...but I know that it is good for me
I don't want to...
I have so many I "don't want to"s in my life...
but they are all "don'ts" that I really like to do
because when I do do them I reap the benefits.
The word "don't"...
Don't you want to rebel against it?
How about when God says don't?
It makes you think that He is a drill sergeant..
who is trying to steal away any fun in your life,
who wants to steal away your peace and joy...
when that is actually what He wants to give you.
Have you read after His "do nots"...
Because that is where you will find
His "I WILL"s...
that will bring more peace and more joy and more fun into your life.
How many times have I stopped reading the sentence
after the words "do not" in the Bible.
My bad, because do I not only miss the blessing,
but I see God not as a loving God who has my best in His Hands..
So when God says..
Do not be anxious....
Know that you WILL receive the peace that transcends all understanding
Do not worry...
Know that you WILL be satisfied
Do not be dismayed...
Know that He WILL be with you
Do not judge...
Know that He WILL not judge you
Do not depend on self...
Know that He WILL direct your steps
Do not be afraid...
Know that He WILL be with you wherever you go
Know that you aren't alone in your "don'ts"
as Paul said it best...
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. Romans 7:15-20
